Margie M. Wang

Margie is Chief Operating Officer and CFO of JA Worldwide, one of the largest global NGOs dedicated to addressing fundamental social and economic challenges of young people by educating and empowering them to transform their future and own their economic success. Through cutting-edge, experiential learning in financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship, JA Worldwide effectively broadens the canvass of possibility for young people and enriches their ability to contribute to the strength of their families, communities, and economies. The 121-country JA Worldwide network is powered by 400,000 volunteers and mentors from all sectors of society, reaching over 10 million students around the world.

Prior to joining JA Worldwide, Margie was VP, Finance Services and Technology for Girl Scouts of the USA. Margie was responsible for all aspects of controller’s, treasury, risk and insurance and technology for the national office, as well as providing technology strategy, consulting and services to 112 Girl Scout councils. Under Margie’s leadership the Movement implemented a nationwide enterprise system providing member management, financial, retail management, fundraising, and data warehouse capabilities. Prior to joining Girl Scouts of the USA in 2005, Margie was Controller and Treasurer for ExxonMobil Research and Engineering and held senior executive positions with the international, chemicals and corporate units.

Margie holds an A.B. in mathematics and computer science from Cornell and a M.B.A. in Finance with Distinction from New York University Stern School of Business. Margie serves on the Cornell Arts and Sciences Advisory Council, the Cornell Alumni Trustee Nominating Committee, is Treasurer of the Cornell Class of 1979, and a member of the Cornell Asian Alumni Association (CAAA). Margie was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.

An avid gardener, she and her husband, Bill reside in New Jersey where they raised their two children who are both Cornell graduates – Marlene (’11) and Alexander (’14).
