Beth S. Horowitz

Beth is Former President & CEO, Amex Bank of Canada, and Former President & General Manager, Amex Canada, Inc. From 2002-2007, she chaired the Amex Bank of Canada board.

In 2009, Beth was appointed to the HSBC Bank Canada Board, and in late 2012, she was appointed to the board of Aimia, a global leader in loyalty management with operations in over 20 countries. Beth has 12 years of non-profit and for-profit board experience.

During her 22-year career with American Express, Beth served in many leadership roles, including Senior Vice President, International Product Strategy & Development; Vice President, Quality & Reengineering; and Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, Global Network Services. In addition, she served on Amex’s Global Diversity Council.

In addition to her corporate boards, Beth’s current board memberships are: Trustee, Art Gallery of Ontario; Advisor, Schulich School of Business (Dean’s Advisory Board); Advisor, Catalyst Canada (Advisory Board); Director, Harvard Business School Club of Toronto; and Advisor, Women’s Venture Capital Fund (Advisory Board).

She is a past member of the Board of Governors of the National Quality Institute, and a past Governor and Chair of the Junior Achievement of Central Ontario’s Board of Governors. In addition, Beth has served as a Senior Advisor for Strategy & Branding for the McEwen Center for Regenerative Medicine.

In 2013, Beth was named one of the 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada, in the Corporate Board category, in the Financial Post magazine.

Beth received a B.A. degree in Medieval and Renaissance European History from Cornell University, and an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School.

For fun, she and her husband Pat enjoy travel, hiking, art, movies, fine wine, and playing with their dog, Picasso.
